Expanding Durable Solutions for Refugees Through Third Country Education Pathways

The objective of this briefing is to share an overview of the protection and academic needs of Afghan refugee youth in the region, discuss concrete steps to expand opportunities for Afghan students to continue their studies in a safe environment and to provide an overview of initiatives that aim at supporting Afghan youth through tertiary education.
UNHCR field operations in Afghanistan and the region, as well as thematic leads on complementary pathways and education will provide an overview of the current protection needs of and opportunities for refugees, followed by an overview of initiatives currently underway to create solutions for Afghan refugees through higher education.
